Economic Chamber of Macedonia
It all started back in 1948. After the World War II, the country needed immediate reconstruction. On February 11, decision No. 1334 by the Government of People’s Republic of Macedonia, proposed by the Minister of industry and mining, in the municipality of Gjorce Petrov, the Factory for concrete products ”Karposh” was established as an enterprise of public importance. The factory received its name after the national hero Hristian Todorovski - Karposh. Four of the old buildings were restored and adjusted into workshops. The same year, 1948, two cranes of five and ten tons, were received as a gift and were installed in the ”Centrifuga” workshop. This is the period when the production of concrete haberdashery and viticulture concrete columns initiated. The main raw material that is used in the production of concrete, sand, is obtained from the Lepenec river by separation. In that period, the sand of this river was categorized as the most quality one. This factory is constantly following new production trends and using new and modern machines. The development of ”Karposh” factory, from its beginnings until today, is moving upwards because it follows three basic principles: • Specialized products • Constant modernization • Research and adoption of new technologies. This development is supported by technical help, efficient logistics, and staff improvement. The expansion of the factory has always been completely respecting the environment.
The reinforced substations, type ”Karposh” from 10-20/04 kN, 1000 kW, are planned as standard buildings made of prefabricated reinforced elements designed for distributive and industrial workshops with 10-20/04 kN voltage. The substations have the typical dimensions according to the engineering standards for this type of building taking into consideration the most unfavorable conditions. The elements are reinforced and casted out of concrete MB30, while the roof elements have a waterproof element also. The surface of the reinforced elements is smooth, with no holes, and made out of fair-faced concrete. For urban usage of the buildings, the color can vary depending on the needs and wishes of the investor. The metalwork (the doors and the air hole inlet in the processed facades) is made of aluminum. The air hole inlets have a fine net that blocks animals and outside objects from entering.
In its workshops for concrete products, the ”Karposh” factory offers a variety of products: different types of fence, M-103, M-104, M-105, M-107, M-108, M-109, viticulture columns with 1.85-3.0 m length and 5/5-8/14 cm diameter, one-piece and two-piece cable pipes with 1.0 meter length, gutters, channels and drain channels, grid and concrete blocks, flower stamps, bins, billboards, white and grey curbs 15/20/100 cm, 24/20/100 cm, 18/24/100 cm, and 8/16/50 cm, and decorative concrete plates for wall and floor casting that come in different color and size and can be relieved, engraved, or smooth. The factory produces all types of reinforced and concrete elements.
The manufacturing process of elements for reinforced bridges includes: needle pieces – type ”Karposh”, reinforced stakes, reinforced spinning columns, decorative processed facades, cable ducts, and curbs. The reinforced stakes and the columns are used in setting up the lower part of the bridge. The needle pieces, the decorative processed facades, the cable ducts, and the curbs compose the upper part of the bridge. The needle pieces are produced with 2-15 meters range. Their static system is actually a simple beam. The bridge bearing capacity is concluded according to the appropriate rules and regulations: -vehicle from 600kN for first class rode -vehicle from 300kN for second class road The stakes are produced with 12 meters length. They are placed in 0.90-1.20 meters range, depending on the bearing capacity of the soil. There are two types of columns: -Type”A” – columns with invariant intersection from 0.36 meters and 4.0-8.0 meters length Type”B” – columns with variant intersection with 4.0-8.0 meters length All elements of the bridge can be produced by demand.
For concrete production the factory uses modern computer plant BSA60-SIMI that works automatically and weight-batches the composing materials. The mixer has a 1500 liters capacity. The factory produces regular concrete, pumped concrete, and concrete with special features. The factory produces concrete from class MB15 to MB60. The capacity is 60 square meters per hour. The overall process of concrete production is supervised and controlled in a laboratory which is an integral part of the factory.
